The reports industry
reads first.

Eight kinds of evidence a company checks before it trusts a bio-made product, the four ReLeaf can put on its Biomanufacturing page this season, and a weekend plan for writing them.

The eight reports

The tag says what happens to each one on our page. Green goes on the page this weekend. Amber goes on as a declared gap. Grey belongs to another page and gets a link only.

Where each report sits

From the organism to the customer. A report describes one link; a reader checks the link they care about.

The eight reports mapped onto the chain from strain to market, showing which four go on the Biomanufacturing page. Strain what makes it Reactor where it is made Recovery getting it out Product what a buyer gets Field does it work Market will it sell Report 1 Performance Report 2 Recovery Report 4 Specification Report 5 Biosafety Report 6 Efficacy Report 3 Economics Report 7 Life cycle Report 8 Commercial & IP Every report describes one link in the chain. Four of them describe links we own.

On the Biomanufacturing pageDeclared gapAnother page

The chain a bio-made product travels, with each of the eight reports hanging under the link it describes. Green: goes on our page this weekend. Orange: goes on the claim ledger as a declared gap. Grey: belongs to another page and gets a link.
01

Process performance

Titer, rate and yield (TRY), run by run, plus how stable and repeatable the strain is. The first thing anyone asks.

On the page
02

Downstream recovery

How the product gets out of the culture, and what fraction survives each step. Usually 50 to 80 percent of production cost.

On the page
03

Techno-economic analysis

Cost per kilogram, its assumptions, and which input moves it most. Our rule: no cost figure until a bill of materials is in the repository.

Declared gap + BOM
04

Product quality and specification

A spec sheet: each property, its limit, the test method and the batch results. The certificate of analysis a buyer receives.

On the page
05

Biosafety and regulatory route

Host safety status, containment, whether any live cells or DNA reach the product, and which law the product falls under.

On the page
06

Efficacy

Does the product do its job in the field? For ReLeaf that is plant evidence, which the scope rule keeps on the Plants page.

07

Life cycle assessment

Environmental footprint against the incumbent, done to ISO 14040/44. Needs inventory data we do not have yet.

08

Commercial and IP

Freedom to operate, market, customers, manufacturing partner. Already handled on the Entrepreneurship page.

Where each one goes

The Biomanufacturing page already has a scaffold. Each report fills a section that exists, so nobody has to invent structure.

ReportPage section it fillsWhat it must show
01 PerformanceThe reactor as a characterised unit operationGrowth fit per run (linear and exponential, both shown), run length, n, operating mode A/B/C, cross-flow setting, which strain.
02 RecoveryThe reactor as a characterised unit operation → new sub-heading "Getting the product out"Membrane spec, shell-side vs lumen-side signal from the Western, permeate flow, every recovery step with its loss.
04 QualityNew short section "Product specification", placed after the reactor sectionA spec table in the leghemoglobin style: property, limit, method, result, n. Identity (anti-His band size), activity, shell sterility.
05 BiosafetyMaking it where it is usedShell-side plating results at every sample point, what the 0.2 µm pore does and does not hold back, and the regulatory route.
03 TEAClaim ledger, as one row marked "not yet established"The BOM if it exists. If not, one sentence saying what the cost model would need.

House rules still apply: a unit, a sample size and a source on every number; the limit in the same paragraph as the result; no verb that implies a measurement we did not make.

Read these first

Two real products, chosen because each one is the best public example of one kind of report. Fifteen minutes each.

The weekend plan

Two people, two days. Everything is typed into the Bioreactor Report builder, which saves on your own computer and exports a PDF. The PDF becomes the source for the page text.

Friday · collect

Jacquelyn
Read Case 1. Fill sections 2 and 3 of the builder (system, process performance) from the run records and the Level-1 handoff.Every row needs value, unit, n, source and evidence tier. Write "not measured" where it is true.
Audrey
Read Case 2. Fill sections 4 to 6 (recovery, product specification, biosafety) from the Western blot record and the plating notes.Copy the leghemoglobin spec layout: property, limit, method, result.
Both
Export a draft PDF and a .json file each. Swap the .json files and import the other person's.Import overwrites the form, so export your own first.

Saturday · write

Both
Merge into one file. Go down the open-gaps list in section 8 together and agree on every "not yet established" row.
Jacquelyn
Write the page text for reports 01 and 02 using the strong examples in Case 1 as the pattern.
Audrey
Write the spec table and biosafety text for reports 04 and 05 using Case 2 as the pattern. Add the TEA row to the claim ledger.
Both
Export the final PDF and send it to Timmy with the page draft.
